Our Mission

Save Our Sedgefield is dedicated to protecting and preserving the pristine coastlines, natural areas, and rich biodiversity of Greater Sedgefield. Through strategic legal challenges, community engagement, and conservation initiatives, we work tirelessly to defend our natural heritage for future generations. Join us in making a lasting impact.

Why We Must Protect It

The Swartvlei peninsula is not simply vacant land on a balance sheet destined for the highest bidder. Instead, it forms a vital green belt across the lagoon, bringing nature directly into our town. Because it is a foundational part of the environmental identity, heritage, and future of Sedgefield , any large-scale development would have a profound effect on the town's character.

S.O.S firmly maintains that environmental stewardship cannot become secondary to commercial interests, particularly in ecologically sensitive areas entrusted to public care. This is especially critical because Sedgefield is a globally recognized biodiversity hotspot, home to highly endangered species like the Knysna Seahorse and the Sedgefield Procydrela Zodariid Spider, which rely entirely on our intact estuaries, wetlands, and dune fynbos.
